Discovered all devices in my network. Great tool!
well done ! i dont want to pay 5 bucks for a Network IP Scanner just for 1 time in a Year ! So with this great APP you can find any Device that is connected to your LAN…. all IP Cameras !!! all Computers… Fritz.Box & Printer… perfect. So i use it for my new IP Cameras…. out of the BOX the IP is never that one that i use… so it is difficult to find it on a Mac… for PC there is always Software to find the Devices but for Mac there is nothing…. So with this great APP it is very easy to find all Device with Names ! Go on ! & thx for make it free
LanScan finds all network devices and shows IP, Mac Adress and the producer of the device. It does what it has to do and it does it good.
Very nice app, but please add support for copying to the clipboard. It would simplify many things if I could paste the found MAC or IP adress from the clipboard.
TOP MSche iMac
LanScan is a neat little tool for finding out what devices are avaible in your local network. Just that, no more. I use it regularly when visiting a new customers local network. I also enjoy the name of the button "Lan your Scan" :) What Im missing is to scan your own self-defined subnet as I use OpenVPN tunnels to access customer networks and those arent avaible as an interface in LanScan.
This pseudo-app is just a time-waster; A joke written by some greedy wiseguy... No real use - it hides hostnames on a list with a ‘***GO PRO!*** mssg;
Ive been using IP Scanner free edition for a while now, I have about 7 servers running in my basement, and unlike the other competition... This picks them all up, does great descriptions, and gives me all the info i need to run my network. Great work guys, very quick, very sleek and very accurate.
Finally no limitation on IP scanned devices unlike IP Scanner Free. However it would be better if we can put a name or comment on the IP found.
I use this program at work and at home whenever Im doing work with network-connected devices. It easily finds all the devices connected to the same subnet as the computer, and conveniently lists their MAC address and manufacturer, making it easier to determine whats what. It also lets you choose which network interface is being polled (ie. wifi or ethernet). Its so much easier than using the terminal. Theres only one thing Id like changed; it would be nice if it automatically recognized network changes on the fly. For instance, if I enable or disable wifi, or change a static IP address on my ethernet connection, I have to restart LanScan. Its not a huge inconvenience or anything, but it would be a nice-to-have feature. I do really like that the number of devices listed is not limited; this is what caused me to delete all the competitors to this product. Keep up the good work!
This is a very good tool to use to see what devices are using your network. Very simple to use just hit the green play button to start a scan.
It found hosts on other subnets in the 192.168/16 range but those not on my /16 subnet were bogus and unreachable. You must copy/paste your way from it’s erroneously returned list of hosts to your tool/app of choice to check out the hosts it says exist (just take a close look at the 5th thumbnail above).
Did a quick scan of my LAN, and seemed to provide some useful details, for what is essentially a demo. I wasn’t able to use the application much, since clicking on the “Upgrade” button, reading it, and then closing just led to a crash of the app. The nagging nature to sell the “pro” version might wind up doing the opposite; it just gives me a bad vibe about the developer.
Great little app, shows information that is completely useful and relevant to me. Found myself gradually using it more and more. Ended up purchasing the Pro version - very reasonably priced and unlocks all features. Would be great if could export to .csv!!
Worth it just for the feature that let’s you assign any name you like to each device that shows up on your LAN. The names can be as long as you like. Much better than the cryptic or non-existent host names that most devices report. For example, instead of your HP printer showing up as “NPI9AC6C8” you can call it “HP Laser Jet 2605dn in the basement”. Pretty useful if you have dozens of devices on there with weird host names and you have no idea what they are. You have to fork out $5 for the pro version for this to work properly, but you can demo it for free.
Seems to do what it does well, but without a way to tag a specific MAC address with a user-friendly name like "Scotts iPhone", it doesnt help much in understanding your network status. Please give us an editable field for "Device name" or some such.
I was looking for something very much like this to provide a simple list of devices on my network…Apples tools (such as Airport Utility) are uncharacteristically vague and unfocused. As another reviewer pointed out the next version should have some "persistence" by allowing and remembering user-defined labels for each network device found. Example: I have four Squeezebox devices on my network, and it would be helpful to see each of their names in the list rather than the Vendor ID "Slim Devices, Inc." Printing could also be a useful addition in time, but start with adding a Preferences utility and user label storage.
I had to run it three times before it found all 5 things on my local network. It is free so I will give it 4 stars
Downloaded this app to help me make a quick map of IPs for a friends home network. It was exactly what I needed as his network had more nodes than "IP Scanner" allowed me to scan. I agree with the other reviewers that a way of making human-friendly notes in the app would be great as youre mapping things out. I like what I see and think its a great start so keep up the good work :-)
